SharkNinja's latest slushie machine, the Ninja Slushi Twist, retails for $399.99 and adds a second mixing chamber to the original single-vessel model, letting it prepare two different frozen drinks simultaneously.
Each of the two 48-ounce vessels operates independently, which is the core selling point. In a hands-on test during a New York City heat wave, TechCrunch's Lauren Forristal used the machine to skip the walk to a convenience store slurpee counter, running both chambers at the same time.
What the machine actually does
Beyond standard slushies, the Slushi Twist handles frappés, milkshakes, frozen coffees, and smoothies. Because the two sides run separately, one chamber can hold an alcohol-free mocktail while the other mixes a cocktail. Ninja says a single batch produces more than 10 drinks, which the company positions for parties and family gatherings.
The feature Ninja markets as "Dual SlushAssist" senses the contents of each chamber and sets the freezing temperature independently for each side. In practice, that means a milkshake can stay creamy on one side while a fruit slush freezes to a firmer, icier texture on the other. A twist dispenser on the drip tray lets you pour each drink on its own or swirl both flavors into one glass for a layered look.
Cleaning relies on a rinse button, with warm water added repeatedly until the water runs clear.
The tradeoffs
Two caveats stand out. The Slushi Twist is noticeably larger than the original, so counter and storage space is a real consideration. At $399.99, it is also a meaningful outlay for an appliance that serves a narrow purpose. For occasional frozen-drink drinkers, the review concluded it is likely more machine than needed. The dual-vessel design makes its strongest case for larger households and frequent hosts.
Why it matters
The Slushi Twist is a bet by SharkNinja that specialized countertop appliances can command premium pricing when they solve a specific pain point, in this case serving multiple drink preferences at once without repeated batches. Whether that justifies $400 and the footprint it demands depends entirely on how often the machine gets used.
